Saturday Training Report - Self Defense

Today are junior students worked on sprawling.  We broke it down into a 4 count to make it like a dance move.  once the sprawl looked good we introduced the ball.  Sprawl on the ball is the drill.  Everyone did a great job and had a lot of fun as well.

Our next technique was the introduction to the pendulum sweep.  This is the second sweep they have learnt.  The work went c\fast and everyone got the movement down very quickly.

Our senior class worked on the pummeling drill.  Next we practiced the arm drag. Our next self defense technique to learn was the headlock escape.  We did 2 versions, front and back headlock.  It's early days for most students on this set of moves.  We will continue to polish it so it will be effective in a real world situation.
Rolling went well today.  Some really strong matches some great submissions.  Good work to everyone that stays after to roll.  It will make your Jiu Jitsu level go higher faster.

Enrol now for our new classes!

We have added a new day of classes starting Wednesday the 25th of March!

That means we have more options for our existing students and more space to take on new students.  We strive to have quality instruction by having a good teacher/student ratio.  Adding the extra training day will accomplish our objective.

Tuesday Training Jiu Jitsu Self-Defence

New class added:

We are opening 2 new classes on Wednesday the 25th.  Same times as Tuesday.  This will allow us to take on more students as well as have smaller class sizes.  Aidan and I are looking forward to the new days and meeting new students.

Tuesday techniques:
We worked on a new self defense technique.  How to counter someone grabbing your hair.  We worked through 2 options and an alternate if one of the options fail.
This scenario is highly likely when girls fight on the street.  We want our girls and boys to feel confident through training do deal with an aggressor.  This was a fun technique to learn.  Great job team.

Our younger students were introduced to sprawling .  We play sprawl on the ball.  I was impressed how our students showed that they have good balance.  Well done!
We moved on to test their back attack skills.  We had a great round of Crazy Horse.  Everyone stayed on the horse like glue.  The back attack is looking fantastic.

We had two very rewarding self defense learning sessions today. Our first class tested their mount escape and hip bump sweep with resistance today.  It was a lot of fun seeing the children's progress.

Our senior students have made the arm drag into a reflexive technique.  We moved onto learn another takedown using the arm drag and finished with a submission.

During our rolling session I saw everyone working new and older techniques in their matches. I'm very eased to see the technical level increase in everyone. Well done team.

Saturday Super Rolling Session

Our youngest students work hard on learning the hip bump sweep.  A few more class and they will have it nailed.  We ended their session with a fun hopping game.  All were tried at the end.

Our senior class was introduced to the arm drag.  More time is needed for this one.  We changed gears and did in introduction to the single leg using teep kick to the thigh to setup the entry.  Everyone got the final bit of the take down. We still need to perfect the footwork.

Our rolling session was epic.  Everyone displayed a level of technique that surprised me.  I thoroughly enjoyed watching the boys and girls show off what the have learnt.  I'm equally impressed with the students that rolled with much smaller and newer students.  I'm proud to see that you rolled to their level.  That's what it's all about.  Give a little take a little and learn a lot! No bullying partners in our sessions. Great work team!
