Super Saturday Training

It was a cold morning at Auckland Kids BJJ.  We did lots of high intensity drilling and tumbling to get are bodies warm.  Our younger students worked on a lot of Jiu Jitsu animals.  We had a really fun shuttle run race at the end to empty their gas tanks.

Our Senior class warmed up with a 50 count of calisthenics.  3 sets got everyone nice and toasty.  Then we moved onto tumbling.  After a brief chat we decided to work on the headstand.  We still need some practice however it's looking good.  The rest of our workout/drilling was focused on our core muscles and mobility.

It was great to see everyone again.  We are looking forward to having a fantastic rest of the year.

We Are Back!

We are back on the mats.  We have all of our health and safety measures in place.  Hopefully in the next few weeks we will be back to full contact training.

We are doing solo drills, strength and mobility work.

A big thanks to Gary for showing us his super awesome and eye opening stretch routine.  I really enjoyed hearing everyone struggle and whimper during the routine.

Well don to everyone that came out for our first class. We look forward to seeing you all this Saturday.

Back on the mats! Starting Tuesday the 19th

It's Time!

Level 2 allows us to get back to training.  In the near term we will be doing solo drills, strength and mobility training. I've been working on new routines to build core strength which I'm sure will challenge everyone.

We have a robust health, safety and hygiene policy in place.  I'm proud to say that of all the dojo's I've visited in my Jiu Jitsu journey ours is the cleanest by far.  Our mats are steam cleaned before and after training sessions and everything is sanitized to protect us from nasty bugs.

Aidan and I are looking forward to see you all back on the mats.

Saturday Training Report - Self Defense

Today are junior students worked on sprawling.  We broke it down into a 4 count to make it like a dance move.  once the sprawl looked good we introduced the ball.  Sprawl on the ball is the drill.  Everyone did a great job and had a lot of fun as well.

Our next technique was the introduction to the pendulum sweep.  This is the second sweep they have learnt.  The work went c\fast and everyone got the movement down very quickly.

Our senior class worked on the pummeling drill.  Next we practiced the arm drag. Our next self defense technique to learn was the headlock escape.  We did 2 versions, front and back headlock.  It's early days for most students on this set of moves.  We will continue to polish it so it will be effective in a real world situation.
Rolling went well today.  Some really strong matches some great submissions.  Good work to everyone that stays after to roll.  It will make your Jiu Jitsu level go higher faster.
